Pink Floyd tattoo

Sorry for this late update, but last friday, I got myself a new tattoo! I've been thinking of this tattoo since I first got the hammer tattoo on my right leg. During the last year, I've been figuring out what I would like to build on with, and it came down to the flowers from "Empty spaces" and the screaming face from "What shall we do now". I started out with the flowers. The screaming face will come later, within a year I hopw, so I can complete my own wall!

As a Pink Floyd fan, I like to show on my body how I feel about the music. I've been listening to this music for years, and before I turned into a big fan, my parents were listening to the music every now and than, and that might helped me develope this great love for the music. I've also wanted tattoo's, and there never were any questions of what I would get.

My right leg was quite swollen after I got the tattoo

I've written earlier about my other tattoo's. There is only one tattoo on my body which has nothing to do with Pink Floyd, and that is a tattoo of my sisters name in a special, old writing. We are like sisters but also like really really good friends. So we wanted to tattoo each others name. The other tattoo's are "Dark side of the moon" a "PF" above it in the wall writing and then it is my hammers.

It is a bit hard to show the entire tattoo on one photo, so I'll post a few so you get to see how it looks. Hope you guys like it, and please leave a comment if you do.

The tattoo took about an hour to prepare, so the bricks would match with the old ones, and after we got started tattooing, it took 1 hour and 15 minutes, so it didn't take long! I got it in Bergen at Let's Buzz. That's where I got my other ones, so I know that it is a great place to go!

My precious

Love the colouring

The hammers and the flower

Not as bright colour on the hammers compared to the new one!

About an hour after I was done. Bloody and greasy.. It got better the day after when I removed the tattoo

Skip to 1:00, and the flowers will apear. The screaming face is also in this clip, which is from "The Wall the movie"

Happy birthday!!!

Today it's Richard Wrights birthday. If he'd still been with us, he would turn 69 today. Richard was born in London in 1943, and we might kust say, that a genious was born. I can't help but wonder what the band would be like without him. I don't think it would be any good. He did get fired during the making of "The Wall", and therefor he was not in in the album "The final cut". I don't really feel that he is missed on that album, cause I feel that is a Roger Waters album, not a Pink Floyd album.

The man was great, and he did something special to the music that I am such a big fan of. I would really like to see him live, unfortunaly that's never gonna happen. But I love watching live dvd's where you can see the brilliant man in action!

We salute you!

Happy Birthday Richard!! We love you, and you'll always be missed!!

Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict

This title makes me giggles every time I see it. There are so many words, no commas or dot or nada. Just 16 words in a row. Try to read the title very fast 3 times in a row. That's quite hard I tell you!
Anyhow.. The song (not even sure I can call it a song. Let's say track!) is on the wonderful album "Ummagumma", which is one of my favorite Floyd albums (I'm sure I could say that about any Floyd album. Exept "More". Not a big fan. Neither "Division bell" or "A momentary lapse of reason". And that's just cause' I'm a Roger Waters girl). But this album is amazing! That's what I'm trying to say! It is a two disc album. One dick is live and the other is not. This song is not played live. I think, at that time, that it would be impossible to performe this song live. But what do I know?!

This track is one of Roger's masterpieces. The seventh song on the album is Waters' humorous sound collage which suggest Pinky and Perky on acid. Various voices are sped up and slowed down in a series of tape loops. Many listeners, include me, assumed that this track was completed with the assistance of Ron Geesin. That is because he was doing similar performance art at the time, but he later confirmed tha he had no direct input into this piece.

All in all it's just another great track! If you don't like it, too bad for you. This is some of the crazyness I'm often refering too.

Yes, we wish you were here

And by saying that, I reckon you all know what I mean. It's been 6 years since the wonderful man, Syd Barrett, passed away. It was a sad day then, and every year on this day, I feel sad.
I've been thinking many times that the answer to which ones Pink, actually is Syd. He was in fact the one who brought in all the craziness to the music. And without the craziness, I'm not sure that I would be such a big fan, as I is today. But I'm glad we're never gonna find out how the music had been without him. I reckon there wouldn't be albums like "Paper at the gates of dawn", "Meddle", "Welcome to the machine", "Dark side.." etc etc.

Richard Wright & Syd Barrett
Well, I don't want to go on to all the details on his life and how he struggeled with drugs and how he died. Today, I just want to honor the man who brought this great music to this world, and I'll celebrate it with posting loads of great pictures of the great man we all miss!

Roger Waters live 2013??!

Okay... My heart is beating like hell, and I'm sweating like a pig. (on the wings, of course). There has been so many comments today that there might be a new Roger Waters tour coming up next year.. He might come back to Europe!! How great would that be!!! I am so exited, and I know I shouldn't get all this exited when I don't know anything for sure, but just that he is concidering a  new tour is a big step! The man who wrote me a birthday card, might come to Europe!!! And I might also meet my friend David Kilminster again too!!

Me and David Kilminster (on stage!!!)

Me and Pat Lennon

Me and Snowy White

If the tour is returning to Europe, I'll have to start save up some money now, so I am able to take some time off work and be able to travel around Europe for a while. I can be a backpacker or whatever. All I know is that my life is dedicated to this music, and if the music is this close, I'll go find it, no matter what it'll cost.! This is the meaning of my life. This music! Whitout this music, I would not be the person that I am today.

When I turned 23, my sister gave me a signed Roger Waters picture.. Yes, I cried..

Me and Roger Waters!

I really wish of all my heart that the show will come to Europe next year, and that I get to see the wonderful album being performed live!! To all my fellow floydians, here's a clip of Mother. Watch it, dream yourself away, and cross all your fingers that you might see it live. It could happen!!
Let it happen.... Shine on :0))

San Tropez

Well, they say that it is summer in Norway now. I can't believe it. Yes, we had some amazing summer-days in may, and there has been one good day here and one good day there, but I wouldn't call it summer. But when I'm sitting in my couch, looking out on the grey-ish skies, I'm listening to this song, and I'm dreaming away. Many of my friends are going on holiday these days, and I'm a bit jealous since they get to know what a summer should feel like. I am actually not the one to talk, since I went on a three week holiday to Australia in january/february..

Anyway this song is on the wonderful album Meddle. It is written and sung by Roger Waters. It is a coctail  jazz paean to the french resort beloved of the jet set and Hollywood stars. The band were frequent visitors to the french riviera and the Med. However many fans regard this as the worst Floyd track of all time. I don't agree. I think it's nice listening to it, and as I said, dream myself away to a warmer place.

Here's a funny video I found of the song. I just love it. Enjoy, and stay tuned ;)

As I reach for a peach
Slide a rind down behind
the sofa in San Tropez
Breaking a stick with a brick on the sand
Riding a wave in the wake of an old Sedan
Sleeping alone in the drone of the darkness
Scratched by the sand that fell from our love
Deep in my dreams and I still hear her calling
If you're alone I'll come home
Backwards and home bound
The pidgeon the dove
Gone with the wind and the rain on an airplane
Owning a home with no silver spoon
I'm drinking champaigne like a big tycoon
Sooner than wait for a break in the weather
I'll gather my far flung thoughts together
Speeding away on a wind to a new day
If your alone I'll come home
And I pause for a while
By a country style
And listen to things they say
Digging for gold in the hoe in my hand
Hoping they'll take a look at the way things stand
And you're leading me down to the place by the sea
I hear your soft voice calling to me
Making a date for later by phone
if you're alone I'll come home

See Emily play

This song was the second single recorded by Pink Floyd. It is, as you just might hear, written and sung by the genious Syd Barrett. The song is actually included in the "Rock and roll hall of fame's 500 songs that shaped rock and roll". That is brilliant!
I've been listening to this song, almost as long as I've been a Pink Floyd. As the most of you already figured out, I'm more of a fan of the good old stuff. Yes, I do like the 'newest' songs and albums as well, but if I had to choose, I would go for the old stuff. Where Syd was the brilliant man behind it all, with a little help from some scary drugs..

The song may also be known as "Games for may" or "Free games for may", which is some of the lyrics in the song. "See Emily play" is about a song about a girl Syd 'saw' while sleeping in the woods after taking some drugs. Syd later stated that it was all made up. No sleeping in the woods, and no girl. It all just pop out of his crazy, but brilliant, head. The song was actually written for a special concert the band gave at the Queen Elisabeth Hall in spring 1976, called "Games for may", an event, which I already wrote, is name-checked in the lyrics.

The drawing on the cover of the single, is actually drawn by Syd Barrett himself. Creative little bastard.

Shine on you all, and enjoy this evening with the music! Lyrics will be under the youtube film. Feel free to sing along.. I know I will ;)

Emily tries but misunderstands, ah ooh
She often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play
Soon after dark Emily cries, ah ooh
Gazing through trees in sorrow hardly a sound till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play
Put on a gown that touches the ground, ah ooh
Float on a river forever and ever, Emily
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play

Here is also a video of David Bowie singing this song.
He does the song very well!! :0))
